Scooter World Record Attempt
Whats the record classed as?
Farthest distance travelled in 24 hours on a 50cc scooter
Who currently has the record?
Moris Fiorito (Italian)
Where in the world did this happen?
Italy/France
The record as it stands
The farthest distance traveled on a 50cc scooter in 24 hours currently stands at 963.58 km (598.74 miles) by Moris Fiorito (Italy), who rode a 2-stroke Yamaha Aerox from Cornuda, Italy, to Cremona, Italy, via Monaco, France, on 7–8 April 2012.
Fiorito’s route took him from his home town of Cornuda West through Northern Italy as far as Monaco, France.
Ok, lets look at the maths… to do a complete 963.58 km (598.74 miles) in 24 hours Moris had to do an average speed of 40.0994 kmh (24.9166 mph). That’s not very fast your thinking, right? Well it’s an average speed so take into account fuel stops, toilet stops, steep hills, traffic and the fact it’s a scooter that probably has a maximum speed of about 45 mph it suddenly becomes a massive challenge of man and machine endurance.
Our aim is simple enough, to beat the existing record and raise money for the Help for Heroes charity on the way.
Who’s on board to help? Well we’re a Peugoet Scooter dealer and that’s pretty handy as we’ll be using a Peugeot Speedfight 3 for the Record Attempt. Peugeot Scooters UK are willing to help out with scooter donation (the Scoot will be auctioned off after the record attempt), so a big thanks should go to them.
We’re still looking for help on this project, we’ve been turned down by Croft, Carnaby race circuits and the Army school of transport (Leconfield) for a decent area to stage the attempt.
